Hope-Sierra Leone’s Acting Regional Secretary Makeni, Northern Province, a former ex-combatant turned productive citizen, Mr. Gaskin Amara. This man has experienced a tremendous personal transformation. This is one of his many testimonies:
"My life was hell during the dark days in my country, unbearable circumstances forced me into the wrong side of the conflict.
I was a victim of these circumstances. I am not very proud of my past. I am particularly very grateful when I came in contact with the Hope-Sierra Leone programme. Through their seminars and workshops, I learnt about values like absolute honesty, unselfishness, purity and love; this lead me into experiencing a great personal and spiritual transformation in my life. My life has changed greatly for the better. I repented and asked for forgiveness from those that I hurt.
Today I am working as a full time volunteer with Hope-Sierra Leone's programme on sustainable peace, reconciliation and development in Makeni, Bombali District, Northern province".
