November 28th to December 7th 2005 The Moral Foundations for Democracy (MFD) programme for army, police and civil society continues with an intensive Training of Trainers Course.
The course will take place at the National Police Training Centre, near Freetown. This follows the two pilot courses held in January 2005 and a short 3-day course for senior personnel in September.
The 35 participants in this next course will be trained to deliver the programme throughout Sierra Leone over the next years. They will use and evaluate a training manual that has been produced for the ongoing training programme in 2006-07 when they themselves will conduct the courses.
August 31st, 2005: Preparations ready for second Moral Foundations for Democracy (MFD) course in September in Freetown for Army and Police. The President has announced senior representation from his office.
The MFD courses programme has obtained partial funding from Danida (Danish International Development Assistance, the name of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ assistance cooperation with developing countries. www.danida.dk) and Dutch catholic development organisation Cordaid (www.cordaid.nl).
Hope-Sierra Leone is in the process of relocating to new office premises. More to follow.
March 31st, 2005: Sierra Leone Teachers Union Hotel(SLTU HOTEL 5:10) management has declared its intentions as the very first local business institution in Sierra Leone to be a partner and sponsor the work of Hope-Sierra Leone in Sierra Leone. Read more.
January, 2005: First Training courses on Moral Foundations for Democracy were held in Freetown and Bo for 72 Sierra Leone Police and Sierra Leone Armed Forces. The programme will be extended in September.
