Sierra Leone (see photos of November 2006)
- Approximately 500 member across Sierra Leone.
- A committee of 26 Sierra Leoneans head the work.
- National office in Freetown.
- Regional Coordinating Offices in Makeni, Kenema and Bo.
- Merger between Council for the Coordination of Youth Activities CCYA, LOAC and H-SL memorandum of understanding.
- Collaboration with the Amalgamated Transport Workers Union of Sierra Leone. We collaborate in areas of peace and reconciliation initiatives, civic education to members, education in trade unionism, courses on democracy and human rights, economic management skills and transparency, drawing up programs on capacity building etc.
- Collaborates directly with Sierra Leone Amputee Association in areas such as trauma counselling and healing, proper education for some of their children, self-empowerment projects like small-scale industries.
- Collaborates with the Community Relations Department of the Sierra Leone Police force.
Denmark
A Support Committee was established 2000 to raise interest and funds. In 2003, a formal Danish - Sierra Leonean Friendship Association (www.dksl.dk)was formed. Read more.
Through the work of H-SL's support committee in Denmark, collaboration has been established with these Danish trade unions and organizations:
- Specialarbejdernes Forbund i Denmark (SID)
- The Professional Drivers Union and
- The Labour Movement International Forum (AIF)
The purpose is to offer assistance to the transport union in Sierra Leone. In October 2001 a group of four Danish trade union representatives travelled to Sierra Leone to assess the situation of the union on the ground and draw up plans in areas where assistance is needed most.

Legal status
H-SL has been recognized by the Sierra Leonean Government as a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) since 2000. Recognition has been extended in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Funding of Hope-Sierra Leone projects has been provided by private donations, Danida (Danish International Development Assistance) and other organizations.
