The Paramount in his keynote address: "On behalf of the leadership and people of Sheborah chiefdom, I feel greatly honoured to have our town chosen by the management of Hope-Sierra Leone as the first in Sierra Leone for this historic exercise. Today marks a new beginning in the lives of the people of Makeni, Sheborah Chiefdom.
The ten-year war brought immense suffering on the people of this area and other areas of Sierra Leone. A year and half ago, it would have been unthinkable to even think of the type of exercise we are undertaking today, i.e. the planting of the Peace and Reconciliation Tree in this chiefdom.
But here we are today, standing together with all those factions which were involved in the conflict to say no to war, and yes to permanent peace by planting this historic peace and reconciliation tree together. I encourage you all to allow the spirit of peace, forgiveness and reconciliation to grow in your hearts and souls as this tree grows in the heart of our chiefdom."
